Nellist's kid-friendly language helps kids fall in love with God's Word and gives them a hunger to know more. She encourages that thought-process in readers with her "I Wonder" statements at the end of each story. Marvelous words to help kids draw closer to the Lord, one Bible story at a time. Captivating for kids and adults alike! : I've never disliked a single piece of Glenys Nellist's work, but this might be my absolute favorite of hers! Just magnificent work. The scripture is so beautifully adapted into kid-friendly but vivid text with rhyme and playful words. The wonder questions at the end of each story are such great thought-provoking questions that inspire the reader to really ponder deeply---in a way that even young readers can access the scripture in a newer, deeper way. AND God is referred to without gender. I cannot imagine loving this book more. My 8 and 5 year olds did not want me to stop reading it tonight and they had some great insights inspired by the questions too! ( Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2021 )

Adults will also enjoy reading the Biblical stories beautifully written and illustrations that compliment the Bible stories and help the readers (and listeners) enjoy the Bible. What a labor of love to my favorite author, Glenys Nellist! Not only is this a great way to introduce Bible stories to children, it is done in a way that isn't lengthy, and (my favorite part) lets the reader "wonder". To wonder about God...isn't that what we all should want to do? Since none of us really have all the answers, and children are always the first to ask those questions out loud, this book gives the reader permission to ask. Just lovely, Glenys! The "I Wonder" questions are a big part of what I love. Some of the questions activate the imagination--they have no right or wrong answer--while others invite a deeper look into God's word. My favorite story so far is the story of Naomi. The range of Naomi's emotions are thoughtfully portrayed; the summarized parts move the story along nicely for young children; and it joyfully points out how Naomi is in Jesus' family line.
