I am having to find a book bindery to rebind the thing so I don’t lose any of the pages!!!! Unbelievable! - 3.0 out of 5 stars from Norm's Opinion -- It was written over a 1000 years ago : It wasn't quite what I expected. It apparently began with the assembly of writings by numerous people who chronicled the happenings at any given period going back to before the birth of Christ. The assembly of chronicles was apparently initiated by King Alfred the great, of the Anglo-Saxons, in the 800's CE. The book then goes on to the year 1054 by many authors, unidentified, to chronical events of each year. This event were mostly battles between various kings of various small districts of the Anglo-Saxon region such as Wessex, Sexxes, Essex. East Anglia, Kent and Northumberland. But I guess I’m the time span it was written, the facts were good enough. So, it’s not one to sit down in the lazy-boy and read till your done. It’s a look-into every now and then. Demystifies much of what is wrongly considered the ‘Dark Ages’. Michael Swanton expertly navigates the reader through the Chronicles whilst making what could be a very ‘dry’ read, interesting and informative in a ‘user friendly’ way.
